Come along to our Family workshops from 11am-12pm on the first and third Saturday every month. It’s free but spaces are limited, so please book through our What’s On page. All materials are supplied, plus snacks & drinks!
Our new Hub is a dedicated space for workshops, play and creative activities, open to all, and home to our Junior Gallery! Young artists can display the art they make on the gallery walls, for all our visitors to enjoy.
The Hub also has a soft-play area with toys, free library and art activities that you can enjoy all day. Plus, a comfy seat for parents and carers who might need a little rest…

Welcoming kids to art galleries is a vital step in nurturing their creativity from a young age. Exposure to different artistic styles and techniques can spark imagination, foster critical thinking, and develop a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
By creating a welcoming and interactive environment, we hope to help inspire children to explore their own artistic abilities, experiment with different mediums, and express themselves freely.
We’re proudly signed up to the Kids in Museums manifesto and we were shortlisted for Best Small Museum for Families in 2021!
Learning resources
We have dozens of free art workshop videos online, with activities for all ages that can be done at home.
All of our videos encourage you to use materials you already have at home to make the artwork, like cereal boxes or packaging, and with your imagination and creativity make something new from something that might otherwise have been thrown away. Make art, save the planet!
Gallery facilities
We strive to make the gallery as accessible as possible for parents and carers with young children. Please ask one of our team if we can help you with anything!
Baby changing
If you need a baby-changing table, please ask our Front of House team. We currently have a strong portable one with straps which we can wheel into the Accessible WC on the ground floor.
Buggy space
We have space for parking prams and buggies at the top of our entrance ramp. Our lift to the Upper Gallery is wheelchair, buggy and pram accessible!
Breastfeeding friendly
Breastfeeding is welcome anywhere in the Gallery and many of our rooms have benches.
Baby supplies
We have free wipes and nappies available, and we’re happy to provide hot water for bottles!
